Strength Has No Age

Wright Training has been training people of all abilities, ages, injuries, and aspirations for over 15 years. We believe that weight training is essential to keep your body strong, functional, and injury free while moving through the motions of life.

Our goal at Wright Training is to keep you injury free or keep your injuries at bay so that you can enjoy hiking, biking, running, climbing, and other outdoor endeavors for as long as possible.

Today we have Joe Albright (89), John Thorn (85), Taylor Moe (18), and Ella Zelazoski (18). Taylor and Ella are both college athletes recovering from injuries, and Joe and John are keeping their bodies physically capable to keep on enjoying skiing and the challenges that life brings.

Lets first speak to Joe:

Joe Albright

How long have you been at Wright?

I started training with you guys in January 2017. I dropped out after a year and then resumed training with Crystal's trainers a couple of years ago

Why did you start at Wright?

My then climbing guide, Mik Shain, recommended that I start working out with Crystal's trainers in preparation for my attempt to climb The Grand in the summer of 2017, when I would be 80 years old. Bad weather spoiled that attempt, but I did get in better shape.

What is your biggest accomplishment since starting?

It has helped me think that I have slowed down the aging process. Now, my goal is to ski next year when I'll be 90.

What would you tell anyone hesitant about weight training?

Don't make it a competitive event. Try to get a bit stronger gradually.

It was awesome to speak to you Joe. 90 on the ski hill is looking up!

Lets take it over to Taylor now:

Taylor Moe

Taylor grew up skiing with the Jackson Hole Ski Club, but this upcoming year she is going to Aspen Valley Ski Club to take a Post Graduate Year.

What current sport do you participate in?

I ski race, play soccer, and I love to hike.

Have you experienced any injuries in the past year that have made training or participating in your sport difficult?

Yeah, I tore my labrum and I was out for an entire year from ski racing.

How did Wright Training rehab you to come back to sport, and have you come back to your sport?

Yeah, I worked out with Crystal a bunch last fall to get ready for racing, and then I was able to come back last December. I was able to start racing in the actual races in March and April.

Is there anything that you would like to say to anyone who is currently injured or looking to come to the gym?

It's definitely hard, but its worth it once you come back. You definitely need to be patient. Its not just like you are going to come back stronger than ever, right away. It is going to take time, but keep up with it!

Thank you so much Taylor, and we cannot wait to see all that you do in Aspen!

Now let’s hear about John’s story here at Wright Training:

John Thor

During Covid, I fell in love with a lady and with Life itself. I wanted to extend my stay on this globe as long as possible & started by watching my diet and doing those kinds of things. Knowing I needed more exercise and being treated for back issues by Rebekah Donley (after looking into back surgery with the Rock Star surgeon who has been fusing my younger brother's vertebrae after his being helicoptered off Germania at Alta; fifteen years and two more fusions later, he still skis). Dr RS told me the alternative would be really good Physical Therapy and conditioning.
Bingo! Rebekah said she could unlock the muscles that were causing the pain and that Crystal and her team could help me strengthen the right muscles.
On June 6th of 2022, I showed up at Wright Training. I'd only lost about 20 pounds at the time and now I've lost another 50, and I am at my college wrestling weight!
In December 2025, my doctor (Burnett) said, "I wish I had something to yell at you about. But, I don't. You are in perfect health, and physically, your body is at that of a 70 year old. Whatever you are doing, just keep doing it".
I have, but on 4/10/26 I was life flighted to EIRMC in Idaho Falls with a perforated colon; a life threatening physiological malfunction more than an illness. After 3 hrs in surgery I spent two weeks in the hospital. My only memories of those two weeks are grey walls and an endless round of nurses and aides trying to keep me comfortable and the endless rounds of gowns and colostomy bags.
The surgeon C. A. Smith, D.O. Stopped by a few times and when I thanked him for saving my life, he told me he did what needed to be done and the ONLY reason I survived is because I was in such good health and condition. Wright Training literally saved my life .... and the second chance to get things ready to be left; finished right is so appreciated.
Gratitude and acceptance rule!
Thanks to all my trainers and the special relationship between Rebekah's amazing PT & Crystal and her talented trainers!!!
Happy to be here!

Thank you so much John! We are so glad that our training has kept you in such good physical condition - keep it up!

Lastly, lets hear what Ella has to say:

Ella Zelazoski

What current sport do you participate in?

I play volleyball, and will be continuing my career at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Why and how long have you been coming to Wright Training?

I have been coming here my whole life! I have been coming here consistently for the past year after my ACL and meniscus knee surgery. Crystal has been very helpful in my rehab.

What would you tell someone who is thinking of starting their journey or who currently has an injury?

When coming back from an injury, it is very important that you find the right people who motivate you, and want the best for you. Everyone here at wright training has showed me that!

Here, we aren’t just about lifting weights, we are about building a stronger, healthier life. Whether you're 18 years old recovering from an injury and chasing collegiate athletics, or 89 years old working toward another ski season, the goal is the same: to help you continue doing what you love for as long as possible.

Joe, John, Taylor, and Ella all have different stories, but they share one thing in common: they are invested in improving their health.

Thank you for sharing your stories, and we hope that we inspire more people to invest into their future here at Wright Training.
